Final Exam & Friends

Alhamdulillah, I've completed my final examination for second semester. I won't delve much about it but I want to share with you guys two incidents relating friends this final exam.

Both incident involves the Math II paper, one is good while the other is not good at all. I'll start with the good story first - as usual I study for the final examination according to the course outline but I didn't realize I've missed an important part because I'm not well to attend the class. Thankfully, my classmate from nextdoor remembered that I missed the class and come over to my room and teach me about the topic. Guess what? The topic came out in the final paper the next day! Thanks a lot Zubair! He even lend me his extra calculator when I misplaced mine for Physics II paper.

The other incident happened to one of my friend. Somehow he's left alone in his room the night efore Maths II and as you expected he overslept and missed the paper. He appealed to re-sit or else he have to repeat the course. Poor him, he should at least informed friends who stay at nearby rooms to wake him up.

The moral of the story? Friends can make or break such a critical event so treat and thank your friend well. Happy holidays to my friends at MCIIUM and good luck for final examination to all at KPM Matriculation Colleges.

GIMP-ing Around

Bored with nothing much to do I decided to give GIMP - an open source 'Photoshop' a try. Downloading and installation is pretty much straight forward with the standard wizard, no problem. Then when the programs run I noticed the software automatically change it's language to Malay but annoyingly it makes the interface mixed up in Malay and English. And the menu in Malay slows me down with 'foreign' jargon. Heh, I'm too accustomed with English interface.

Then come another problem, the toolbars came in individual windows floating on the desktop and when you load an image those windows won't automatically make way to the new window. Really annoying. But then I forgive GIMP because it's an open source software - commercial software won't get away with such an unpolished interface.

But once you get past the interface GIMP proves to be quite a powerful application. IMHO, many things that you can do in Adobe Photoshop can be done. I decided to give a picture of my friends a spin as shown below. :D

Source Image ------> Final Image

The steps are quite simple, first select the outline (with feather edge) of those guys and inverse selection to clear the background. Then I select those guys back and colour them black. Then I typed the text in Pseudo Saudi Font before giving a FlareFX for the final touch.

Man & Cat

As you can see, the cat is on a crude fabric leash held by the man so the cat just stay hanging on the man's shoulder. Poor kitty, it seems bewildered, maybe wondering why it's owner took it to the crowded market. What do you think? Posted by Hello

Rarely would you see a cat being taken to the market by the owner. But I managed to capture the picture of this guy with his cat amidst the crowd. Really weird... Posted by Hello

Turn Right, Not Left!

Once again I took the wrong turning to dad's new office. After so many years being used to turn left just after stepping out of the lift, I found it's almost automatic to do so. For seven years it had been at the same place - third floor, left wing. But now his office had moved one floor up and the opposite wing while my feet still keen to take the old turning. I also still absent-mindedly press on third floor when I should go to fourth floor and walk out of the lift just to find myself at the wrong floor.

Tsk, tsk, old habit die hard...
