Raihan's new member, Nordin Jaafar express his worry to carry the responsibility to fill the position vacated by Raihan's ex-member, Nazrey Johani.

"It is a heavy responsibility for me but it is also a challenge for me to fulfill," said Nordin after a charity show in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu recently.

Nazrey recently made the decision to leave Raihan after ten years with the nasyid group to seriously pursue his endeavour in da'wah.

His departure was blessed by other members of Raihan and now the nasyid group is strong again with Nordin's arrival.

Nordin who was the singer of Alarme said, he now back in learning more about vocal techniques after leaving the field around 4 years ago.

He explained, the showmanship of Raihan and Alarme are starkly different. Raihan usually employs live music for their performances while Alarme uses minus-one.

Furthermore, the commitment required in Raihan is very high since the nasyid group frequently perform overseas.

"I need to arm myself with more skills to fulfill Raihan's reputation," he said. However, Nordin express his confidence to meet the standard although he still worry of comparison with Nazrey.

"It's normal in this field, we will be compared but in the mission of conveying, our goal remain the same," he adds,

He also informs that Raihan will be performing in Bangkok end of this month.

“Afterward we are going to United Kingdom and Trinidad.”

Garden of Knowledge & Virtue, Kuantan Campus

The Clock Tower Colourful Kulliyyah of Medicine Welcome

In a way, I'm never far away from IIUM. Back in KL I'll be at the Main Campus, here in Kuantan I'm near to the Medical & Sciences Campus. Although both campus share certain design elements the Kuantan Campus do have it's own distinct feel & identity. Notably the colour scheme and the layout. It is peach & yellow instead of blue & stone. Kuantan campus also opt for a more spread out design as opposed to Gombak compact placement. The buliding are also bigger with larger coutryard. But the natural remain the same with water feature & the hills.

Starting this July Nazrey's fight with the nation renowned nasyid group Raihan come to an end.

After ten years with Raihan, Nazrey choose a new path to do da'wah independently as the Director of Sabah Mualaf Foundation.

"I want to concentrate in da'wah works with the community in my hometown at Ranau, Sabah"

"But this doesn't mean I wouldn't sing anymore. I'll come out with a solo nasyid album next year. But I'm yet to decide which company to work with," said Nazrey.

Nazrey was met at the Product Introduction Ceremony of GamatCafe and Ar-Raihan Dates Juice which is produced by his company Ar-Raiha Food Industries, at Kuala Lumpur recently.

According to Nazrey, his decision to leave Raihan was made after discussing it with his recording company, Warner Music.

"It is time for me to be back in da'wah seriously. That's the reason why I need to act solo so I can frequently go to Sabah."

Furthermore, his decision was accepted by other members of Raihan. He said, his relation with Raihan will not end and they'll even continue to work together.

"Maybe for Raiha's next album, I'll be a featured artist. My last album will be published this July,"

To fund Sabah Mualaf Foundation to do da'wah, he (Nazrey) need to seek new source of income.

Thus, Nazrey formed Ar-Raihan Food Industries to achieve the goal.

The company is his own and not include other Raihan members, Nazrey adds.

"I always love to do bussines. It's a blessing for Allah s.w.t when I'm approached by friends whom invited me to enter into bussines," said Nazrey who welcomes big companies that would like to give zakat and contribution to Sabah Mualaf Foundation.

According to Nazrey, only 18 percent of the economic sector in Malaysia is held by Muslims.

As such, said Nazrey, it is his responsibility to develop the Muslim economy through his bussines.

Fans who would like to become distributors of the two product from Nazrey's company can contact Ar-Raihan Food Industries at +6034106 0176, +60195940707 or +60133938905.

Nazrey also revealed about the formation of another company, Nazrey Raihan Entertainment, as a preliminary step to establish a nasyid academy in Malaysia.

His aim is to develop a new generation of nasyid singers in Malaysia.

"Youngsters whom are interested in nasyid need a comfortable place to practice, I believe the establishment of the academy will help," he said.

Good Job!

Alhamdulillah, the MBS Nasyid team performed well at the Sentul District Anti-Drug Competition. They managed to bring home the fourth prize after years without any win. Considered as the underdog team their feat is even sweeter when they edged out SMAKL from winning. SMAKL or Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Kuala Lumpur is considered a nasyid powerhouse and their loss is quite a surprise. What's more, they are being trained by a renowned nasyid singer.

My friends and I at Madani Media congratulates Methodist Boys School team for their win. We only share our little knowledge but it's their commitment that drives the victory.

Thanks a lot to Shahir, Ijat, Azizi, Afifi, Acap, Firdaus and the rest of the gang for their cooperation and cheerful antics. Also a special appreciation to Ustazah Nazalina for giving us a chance to share with those young brothers.

Advice from a Brother

"In nasyid, there's several things that's important in order to remain in the true path. It's the message that you convey, the place that you perform, your intention and the values that you bring."

Vocal Class

Madani's first assignment for teaching vocal sounds quite ironic - our team was requested to teach nasyid at Methodist Boys School, Sentul, Kuala Lumpur. The students doesn't look like nasyiders at all, and the school environment was very foreign to us. A Methodist Boys school in the city is a stark contrast to our sub-urban mixed school background. Nevertheless we do our best to share our little knowledge and skills with those young brothers. Alhamdulillah, we had fun and learnt a lot along the way.

Wishing the MBS team success this 15th June!

Against the Blue Sky

I simply love to photograph with the blue sky as background. For me it gives the sense of space and serenity. If I have fresh greenery as well, it will be perfect especially to capture the beauty of the Garden of Knowledge and Virtue.

Alhamdulillah, I'm satisified with my recent purchase of Kodak C330. Although pretty much a simple point and shoot digital camera it is able to produce stellar pictures.I'm content to practice shooting and develop a good 'eye' for photography before I have the chance to move on with better equipments. After all, it is the photographer that matters. :)

Let The Pictures Talk

Recently I have a serious bout of writer's block so there's no new entry even though there's a lot of story to share. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. So let the pictures talk.
