Man Propose, God Disposes
When my friends and I signed up to be committees of Taaruf Week 2005 we made our own pact. We agreed not to nominate and vote each other for any top post in the organizing committee. Nearing the event we also made a song that is deemed suitable for new intake students. The title is Janji Setia which is basically a reminder of what we promised to our family when we left to further our education. The lyric is my own while the song is composed with my fellow Madani members. We planned that Madani shall perform at the Taaruf Week Cultural Night.
But then our plan is totally flipped over. As the post is assigned by officers two of us got the two highest post, which is the Manager and the Assistant Manager. That was totally unexpected as we are from less glamourous sub-committee which is Catering and Security. As expected the post made them busy. While I'm just an ordinary committee I got quite an important job; writing a speech for the Manager that will be delivered during the Opening Ceremony. It was an interesting experience to sit down with the Deputy Dean and the Manager to come up with the speech.
How ironic, I planned a song and I need to do a speech instead. Maybe it's so that I hone my writing skills. Anyway, I still get to say something to the new intake students and it's delivered by my friend. The gist is pretty much the same eh?
